Cultivating a harmonious community of passionate voices,
while empowering students and our community through music

Concert Choir

The Concert Choir, a powerful choir of mixed voices, is one of East High’s curricular choirs. The choir sings a variety of traditional choral literature and prepares its own set of pieces to be performed at the Winter and Spring Concerts.

The Concert Choir has been designed to suit the needs of students who wish to improve their skills to make a select group in the future and students who enjoy vocal music but do not have the time to devote to a select group. As with all East High Choirs, there is a strong emphasis on improving the vocal techniques and sight-reading skills, which will help them to improve their confidence and performance as a musician.

Select Women's Ensemble

Select Women's Ensemble is an auditioned curricular ensemble from grades 10-12. As members of a select ensemble, students gain entry to the group through the spring placement audition. Students are chosen based on their musical audition (tone quality, intonation, musicianship, ability to hold parts independently, preparation, tonal memory) and their positive mindset (ability to work with others, reliability, enthusiasm, dependability).

The Select Women's Ensemble provides singers with the opportunity to learn and perform challenging traditional and contemporary choral works. A member of the ensemble is expected to give the extra time necessary to help the group become an outstanding musical ensemble. As an auditioned group, the Chorale is a traveling choir, and its members will learn repertoire to perform at festivals and competitions in addition to the scheduled concert events (Cabaret, Winter Concert, Pops Concert, CDSD Honors Choral Festival, and Spring Concert).

Choraliers

Choraliers is a select curricular ensemble at Central Dauphin East High School. Its members were selected by a placement audition during the spring of last year. Students are chosen based on their musical audition (tone quality, intonation, musicianship, ability to hold parts independently, preparation, tonal memory) and their positive mindset (ability to work with others, reliability, enthusiasm, dependability).

Choraliers perform challenging music of a high level from the traditional choral repertoire, including classics, madrigals, spirituals, and contemporary choral works. A member of Choraliers is expected to give the extra time necessary to help the group become an outstanding musical ensemble. As one of East High’s auditioned choirs, Choraliers will be preparing its own concert repertoire to perform at festivals, competitions, and local performances throughout the year in addition to the major choir activities (A Night on Broadway, Winter Concert, Spring Concert).
