CDSD National Honor Society (NHS)
Application Process
Eligibility Requirements:
Students in 10th, 11th, and 12th grades are eligible to apply for membership in the National Honor Society if they meet the following criteria:
- Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 90%
- Have been enrolled in the school district for at least two marking periods
- In addition, 12th-grade students may apply after meeting eligibility requirements following the first marking period of the school year.
All candidates will be evaluated based on the four NHS pillars: Scholarship, Leadership, Character, and Service.
Application Timeline:
- Notice of Eligibility: Students will be notified of their eligibility to apply by the third Friday in February.
- Application Deadline: All materials must be submitted by the second Friday in March.
- Notification of Acceptance or Denial: Students will receive an official response from their school by the second Friday in April.
Application Process:
- Once notified of eligibility, students will receive the official NHS application.
- The student will complete the front page of the Cover sheet and submit a completed application by the deadline.
- The grade-level principal will complete the Character Pillar evaluation for each candidate.
- Applications will be scored, and students must receive a minimum score of 11 to be accepted into the National Honor Society
- Students will be notified of their acceptance status by the second Friday in April.
Induction Ceremony:
- Formal induction ceremonies will take place in the spring to recognize and celebrate newly accepted members.
